New Disabilty Accommodation On Its Way For Rosebud

07 June 2016

A community project to build disability accommodation in the Rosebud area has been boosted by $1 million in Andrews Labor Government funding.

Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing Martin Foley announced the funding for the Cloverleaf housing development would provide accommodation for eight individuals.

Cloverleaf is the product of years of fundraising and advocacy by ageing parents on the Peninsula who have feared for the future care of their adult children, once they are no longer around to look after them.

It is a common concern of parents who have contacted the Government as Victoria draws closer to the roll-out of the NDIS on July 1st.

The funding is a one-off grant to assist in the construction of the building, which is a collaborative community project between a number of organisations including the Uniting Church, Bendigo Bank and Community Lifestyle Accommodation.

Access to appropriate and stable housing is fundamental to quality of life. It is a priority for the Labor Government to support those in the community who have a disability and ensure they have access to suitable housing.

The project is also supported by Federal and philanthropic contributions.
